My weekend
Last week on Friday I didn't go to school, so instead me and my sister stayed home. It was really boring because we had to do all the chores. Later in the afternoon we started watching movies. We watched House Of Magic, Insidious Chapter 2, Gravity and Rio 2. My favourite was Insidious Chapter 2 because it was really scary.
The next day on Saturday me and my family went to Papakura to watch one of my family members play softball. I think they won because after the game everyone from her team started celebrating. We stayed at the Papakura Softball Club for a really long time but there were other kids there so we weren't that bored. There was also a shop across the road from the club so we never got hungry.
The very next day on Sunday my brother visited us. He needed to catch the bus early to work on Monday and we had the closest house to the bus stop he needed to go to. But he left really early in the morning so I couldn't say goodbye, but thats ok because I saw him on Tuesday, he went with my mum to come get us from the shops.

Vocab Task
This is a Presentation about Kawau Island and the interesting sights and birds that you may see during you holiday there.

I am excited to see many of the native birds because some of their feathers are really fascinating. The other reason is because the activities there look fun!

The History of Kawau Island
Kawau Island is one of the largest islands in the Hauraki Gulf. Kawau was named after the Kawaupaka. Did you know Kawau is one of the most beautiful islands of the Hauraki Gulf and one of the richest in history. Kawau Island was purchased by Sir George Grey in 1862. Sir George Grey had an interest in the natural sciences, and was an enthusiastic collector of plants and animals from around the world. At the time Sir George Grey was serving his second term as governor.

Being A Good Friend
WALT: explain to your reader what being a good friend means
Friends are the people in your life that treat you differently, they make you laugh, they make you cry, but when it comes to friends they're always by your side. Life isnt easy your always gonna get knocked down but remember you’re friends will be there to lift you back up and keep going.
Finding friends isnt easy but in a few years of life you’ll find the perfect ones. They could be tall or they could be short but no matter who they are they’ll always support you, especially when you’re going through rough times. Some of your friends can be a bit unusual but that doesn’t matter, what matters is on the inside not the outside.
When you have friends you don't talk about them behind their backs, and you certainly don’t mock them just to show off in front of others because if you do or have done that nobody would want to be friends with you. If you don’t have friends you’ll never make it through life, you could be all alone because of the stupid mistakes you made as a kid.
The best qualities to find in a friend is respect and honesty. If you want a real friend one thats nice and friendly look for the respectful ones, the ones that listen to the teachers and do the right things on their chromebooks. Honesty is another one, people that tell you the truth or more importantly the ones that don't lie to their parents just because they don't want to do what they say. Honesty is always the best policy.
Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain, its not something you learn in school, or something that you parents taught you. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship then you never had any real friends.

Being Fit.
Dictation
Did you know your body is an amazing machine? It just needs to be used everyday to keep it working well.
Exercise keeps your body strong and fit. Fitness means having the energy to work, play, and do all the things you want to do easily. Your body can not store fitness, so you need to exercise regularly to stay fit.

Exercise for strength makes your muscles stronger so you can work different parts of your body without feeling weak. Exercise for stamina makes your heart and lungs stronger, and helps blood flow easily around your body. Stamina is the ability to exercise for longer without getting tired or out of breath.
So you need to move it!

Capitals
Capitals - what are they and when do you use them in writing?
WALT: Write an explanation telling people what capital letters are and when you use them in writing.
People often don’t use capital letters when they are writing emails or other messages, but it’s important to use them in stories and newspaper articles because when other people read your work they want to see tidy and quality work.
Capital letters start the beginning of names, so for example. My name is Elisabeth. The capitals are used in names because when you write your name on paper some people usually forget to use capitals.
Capital letters have to be used when you write I, I’m, I’ll and lots more. Its important to do that because its makes your writing look tidy. Its also important because when people see that you use capital I's they will know that you are a proper kid and take writing seriously.
Capital letters are also for the days of the week. Monday has a capital in it because it’s similar to a month. It’s similar to months because their both dates. People usually use capitals like this. On Thursday my cousin is coming over to my house.
- Monday
- Tuesday
- Wednesday
- Thursday
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
The names of cities and countries have capitals in the too. This is an example for how to use capitals in these kind of sentences. Next week me and my family are going to Brisbane, Australia to see my sister. Here are a few countries and cities.
- Auckland
- Christchurch
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Perth
- Brisbane
- Sydney
- And many more
There are many more reasons why people use capitals. I hope you learned something new and remember KEEP USING CAPITALS!

Uniform Upgrade
Uniform Upgrade
Pt England School - Elisabeth
Pt England School’s year 5 & 6 students are going to intermediate and want to find out why the Intermediate students get jackets.
The idea of the schools uniform came from the students, they all agreed on the jackets to make the seniors stand out and feel all grown up, the students also agreed on the juniors uniform. This was chosen by prefixes and discussed by the prefixes when Point England was turning into a intermediate school. 98% (nearly every child) bought the jackets.
Here is Lucy from class 6 to tell Pt England what she thinks about the uniform upgrade, “I like the jacket and I think they are cool, I also cant wait till i'm older so I can wear the jacket and feel older and more mature”, then Lucy said how she would wear her new jacket when she gets one “When I get the new jacket I will wear it with pride and not around my waist”.
This time is Katareina also from class 6 who tells Pt England what she thinks about the prices for the jackets “I think the prices are a little bit too high but still really cheap, I would still buy the jacket even if it’s a high price”. Also Elizabeth from class 8 answered the same question “I think the jackets so great, but the price is really high but its kind worth it though”.
In 2029 the jackets might evolve and people might sell them all around the world. The government might use the jacket as a sponsor for other schools learning with chromebooks. Even movie stars might wear them in their concerts. The jackets might be such a big hit everyone would want them…but that probably wouldn't happen.
